Barbecuing

If you want to grill on the balcony, remember that only electric grills are allowed!

If you wish to grill in the yard, remember to place the grill at least ten meters from any buildings. Of course, you may grill at the designated barbecue areas available in some of our residential areas.

Things to keep in mind when grilling:

  • Grilling is only allowed with grills that stand above ground on legs.
  • Disposable grills are not allowed.
  • The person who lights the grill is responsible for safety. Never leave a lit grill unattended!
  • Place the grill securely and away from house walls, fences, or anything else that may catch fire.
  • Have a water hose or bucket of water by the grill so you can extinguish it if needed.
  • Only use charcoal or briquettes for fuel.
  • Store any lighter fluid at least three meters from the grill.
  • Never use alchohol-based fuels to ignite a grill that has gone out. It’s extremely dangerous. The bottle can explode.
  • Ensure that the charcoal/ash is cool before disposing of it. Used fuel from a charcoal grill can retain heat and embers for up to three days.
  • Remember to clean up after yourself so that it is pleasant for the next person who wants to grill.

We urge all tenants to follow these guidelines. Partly for fire safety reasons, but also for the community, as grilling can create a lot of smoke and food odors.
