Few forget to plan their vacation, and hopefully, you make an equally careful plan for the summer budget. There’s nothing more disappointing than when the money runs out and you have to cancel planned activities. Here are tips to help you manage the summer budget.
- Create a weekly budget, which makes it easier to keep track of costs based on your plans. Possible categories include: transportation costs, accommodation, food, entrance fees, and miscellaneous.
- Calculate a ‘snack allowance.’ When it’s hot, you’re likely to buy a cold ice cream on the beach or have lunch in the shade. Calculate how much you think you’ll spend per day/week, as costs can easily add up when you have a larger family.
- Go through your wardrobe. Children grow fast, and suddenly the flip-flops don’t fit, and you only discover this when you’re on your way to the beach. Spread out the cost before the heat arrives.
- Travel during the off-season. If you plan to visit a zoo or amusement park, try to go during the off-season. It’s cheaper and there are fewer people to crowd with.
- Bring your own food to the beach. There are delicious recipes for the beach or excursion. Inexpensive, cozy, and close to nature.
