Neighbor Security

– a policy and routine for concerns about domestic violence

Domestic violence is classified as a global public health problem. National safety surveys show that most people subjected to domestic violence do not report the perpetrator. Many therefore live with violence every day. Every year, over 20 people are killed by domestic violence, the majority of whom are women, but children and men are also killed by relatives.

With Neighbor Safety, we can make a difference for the vulnerable, help children to a better life, and stop the violence happening among us. With Neighbor Safety, we act for a safer society for everyone.

Katrineholms Fastighets AB (KFAB) strives for us as property owners and you as tenants to take responsibility, act, and help each other. We strive for a culture characterized by the belief that we all can and want to do something when worried or suspecting violence. Through Neighbor Safety, we want to provide neighbors with tools to take more responsibility against the violence present among us.

We want to show that we do not tolerate violence and that we act. No neighbor should have to live in fear or concern for violence.

If you are concerned about violence, we recommend you as a tenant to:

  • call the police (always contact the police first in situations perceived as urgent or threatening)
  • call KFAB’s disturbance hotline, tel 019-32 43 25
  • make a report of concern to our housing consultant, tel 0150-571 22 if you suspect someone is at risk

By approaching each other, we can create distance from violence. Everyone has the right to live without concern and fear of violence. In our building, we should also be able to expect our neighbors to act and show civil courage in case of concern for ongoing violence.

With Neighbor Safety, we want to contribute to increased safety for everyone.

Policy adopted by KFAB’s board on June 14, 2019.
