Clean and Maintain

Floor

Clean the vinyl floors with a mild cleaning agent, dish soap works great. Avoid strong products as it will dull the shine of the flooring. When cleaning parquet floors, it’s important that the mop or cloth is only damp because wooden floors absorb water. Too much water can damage the surface and create bulges or cracks. Feel free to use microfiber cloths for dusting and mopping. They absorb fat, dirt, and dust, and you don’t need any cleaning agent! You can protect the floors from scratches and stains by placing furniture pads, small felt-covered plates that are nailed or glued to the underside of chair legs, tables, cabinets, and other furniture.

Walls

The walls are papered with wallpaper which means the surface is sensitive to stains. Dark streaks and marks can often be removed with an eraser. The wallpaper is also washable if you are very careful and use a soft cloth with a little dish soap and a lot of water. However, you cannot scrub because it will damage the surface. If you take care of the stains as soon as possible, they can usually be removed. Painted walls can be wiped with a damp cloth. If you have a bed without a headboard, it’s important to place it a bit away from the wall or put up some form of protection because otherwise, the wallpaper will stain. Such stains are not considered normal wear and tear, which means you will be liable for payment for grease stains on the wallpaper.

TilesYou can easily clean the tiles with a mild cleaning agent and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive scrub sponges and soap that make the tiles’ surface dull and lackluster.

Household appliances

The dishwasher filter needs to be cleaned from food remnants every week. The risk of water damage is reduced if you avoid running the dishwasher when you leave home and always turn off the water to the machine when it’s not in use. The tumble dryer’s water container must be emptied after each drying, and the lint filter should be cleaned to increase drying efficiency and reduce the risk of fire. The washing machine is cleaned by clearing the drain filter and wiping the detergent compartment. Grease stains on stainless steel appliances can be removed with a little mineral water on a paper towel. If the stains are really stubborn, a little baking soda can also be used.

Stove

You can wipe the stove with a damp cloth. On traditional stove plates, it’s fine to use steel wool or scrub sponge but absolutely not on enamel as it will create permanent scratches where dirt sticks. If you have a cooktop, clean it with paper towels or a soft cloth and special cleaning agent for hobs. Sometimes you need to pull out the stove to clean behind and underneath. Pull on the stove’s edges instead of the oven door as it might come off or become crooked.

If you don’t know how to remove and clean the filter, just call us and your property manager can show you how to do it. All vents in the home also need to be cleaned from time to time.

Refrigerator and freezer

Frost and ice reduce cooling capacity, so the refrigerator and freezer need to be defrosted sometimes. Use the defrost buttons. It is important not to chip away the ice, as this can damage the cooling units. Just let the ice melt and drain into the drip drain. Remember to place a tray with edges underneath to collect all the water. Some refrigerators are self-defrosting.

Toilet, sink, and bathtub

Toilet, washbasin, and bathtub

When cleaning inside the toilet, you can use special cleaning agents that dissolve lime deposits. For the sink, mild detergent and a soft cloth or a scrubbing sponge designed for bathrooms are sufficient. The wrong scrubbing sponge or steel wool will damage the surface and cause dirt and bacteria to accumulate in the scratches. The bathtub is enamel and should be cleaned in the same way as the sink. Regular vinegar can dissolve lime deposits and is also antibacterial!

Kitchen Drain

Matfett orsakar många stopp i avloppen. Torka av tallrikar och stekpannor med hushållspapper innan du diskar, oavsett om det är handdisk eller diskmaskin. Har du större mängd olja så kan du använda en s k miljötratt för att fylla en pet-flaska. Flaskan sorterar du sedan i restavfall. Hämta en miljötratt på vårt Kundcenter.

Never rinse food scraps down the sink. Small items like rice and couscous easily get carried along and end up in the pipes where they dry and cause issues. Scrape plates and bowls into the compost bag before washing.

By flushing the pipes with hot water and dish soap, you can help keep the pipes free from grease. The best technique is to pour some tablespoons of dish soap into one sink and run hot water in the other for about one minute. This is done so that the dish soap sinks into the pipe, warming it up. Then, move the faucet to the sink with the dish soap and run water for 4-5 minutes.

Avoid Blockages in the Toilet

Do not flush anything that cannot dissolve! Only toilet paper and waste from your body should be flushed down the toilet. Everything else should be thrown in the trash. Paper towels, wet wipes, pads, and tissues will eventually cause blockages.

Floor Drain in Bathroom
