Camera Surveillance for Increased Presence in Environmental Buildings and Laundry Rooms

To provide our tenants with a secure, pleasant, and safe living environment, we have now decided to place cameras in selected environmental buildings and laundry rooms where the need for monitoring has increased.

– For many of our tenants, the misuse of common areas is a recurring problem. To address these issues, we have now chosen to use camera surveillance. Anyone who misbehaves risks having to pay a fine. Sometimes we need to use tougher tools to solve the problems, says Ingmar Eriksson, CEO of KFAB.

We see camera surveillance as a step to get a better overview of what measures may be needed and when the need is greatest.

– Installing a surveillance camera is never a first choice. It can be a way to address recurring negative behaviors when other options have not worked, but also to clarify what works, explains Ingmar Eriksson.

– Where we have cameras installed, there are always information signs that clearly show that we have placed a camera, who is responsible, and contact details for questions. The signs are placed so that they can be seen before entering a space where a camera is placed, clarifies property manager Tobias Lundqvist.

Recorded material is stored in accordance with the Camera Surveillance Act and the General Data Protection Regulation. The content is then automatically deleted.

– We regularly evaluate the need for existing cameras, concludes Tobias.
