Grill Safely This Summer!

If you wish to barbecue in the yard, please ensure to place the grill at least ten meters away from all buildings. You are of course allowed to grill at the designated barbecue areas available in some of our residential areas.

Things to keep in mind when barbecuing:

  • Barbecuing is only allowed with grills that are above ground on legs.
  • Disposable grills are not permitted.
  • The person who lights the grill is responsible for safety. Never leave a lit grill unattended!
  • Place the grill steadily and far from house walls, fences, or anything else that could catch fire.
  • Have a water hose or bucket of water near the grill, so you can extinguish it if needed.
  • Only use charcoal or briquettes for burning.
  • Store any lighter fluid at least three meters away from the grill.
  • Never use methylated spirits to light a grill that has gone out. It is extremely dangerous. The bottle could explode.
  • Ensure that the coals/ash are cold before you dispose of them. Used fuel from a charcoal grill can retain heat and embers for up to three days.
  • Remember to clean up after yourself to keep it pleasant for the next person who wants to barbecue.

We urge all tenants to follow these rules of conduct. Partly for fire safety, but also for comfort since barbecuing can create a lot of smoke and cooking odors.
